Abstract
[ABSTRACT] The objective of the following project is to highlight the impact of Don Juan on Ramón del Valle-Inclán and vice versa. Both are primordial to Spanish literature and their mutual influence is made apparent via Valle-Inclan's Marquis of Bradomín. Through prose, his role as an “ugly, Catholic, and sentimental” Don Juan presents said archetype at the doorstep of the 20th Century and Valle-Inclán at that of literary success. More than a literary protagonist, Bradomín represents perhaps our greatest opportunity to know the enigma behind the Sonatas, a young and donjuanesque Valle-Inclán. In helping us to approach Valle-Inclán and, by everything he represents, we are invited to interpret from a new perspective Don Juan's lineage, where at the end awaits us perhaps the most complex unique of them all.
