Abstract
This paper analyzes the relationship between economic convergence and economic integration, taking as field of study the Central America Custom Union. Despite the bases of the process are anchor in their common history and in the purpose of achieving higher levels of development, empiric evidence for 1990-2005 period highlights divergence amongst these economies and put in doubt the capability of the process to decrease income inequalities. This work is part of a deeper one which seeks to study the possibilities of economic integration to counteract the ongoing divergence in the isthmus.
