Abstract
This article examines the potential positive impacts of the Millenium Development Goals in relation to Women’s Rights, focussing particularly on the situation of Asian Women. The author starts from a critical analysis of the third objective –promoting gender equality and women’s autonomyand further proposes new ways of mainstreaming gender in the rest of the Objectives. By doing so the author takes into consideration some of the proposals of the Interational Women’s Movement. The article calls for the necessity of being creative in promoting gender equity by following the paths opened in the Conference of Beijing more than a decade ago.
