Abstract
[ABSTRACT] The goal of this Project was the design and setting up of a new ultra-high vacuum (UHV) system. The starting point was a previous system that belongs to the Surface Science UCM Group. The first part of the work was a detail analysis of the weakness of the old UHV system. Then we design a new preparation system, with a new table not only to support it, but to mechanically isolate it. After the fabrication and the assembly, we implement the preparation and surface characterization techniques. The new system alow us to prepare the sample by annealing and ion sputtering. We can characterize it with LEED and Auger, and transfer the sample directly into the STM.
