Abstract
La aplicación tardía en nuestro país, de los SIG a multitud de disciplinas y al análisis del crimen en particular, ha creado un desconocimiento del potencial de estas herramientas en el análisis, predicción y prevención del fenómeno criminal. Así pues, el presente trabajo se ha concebido como una herramienta que sirva para cubrir dicha necesidad, demostrando la utilidad de los SIG aplicados al análisis criminal a través de un repaso por la historia de la geografía del crimen, la evaluación de la situación actual, la aplicación de una metodología de análisis concreta basada en diferentes técnicas, y el desarrollo, implementación y evaluación de estrategias dirigidas a la reducción y prevención del fenómeno criminal.
