Abstract
In order to determine with reliability criteria ground deformations, an experimental geodetic network has been established in a volcanic area. A methodology of hypothesis testing to compare successive observations has been set up, and computer programs for the adjustment of the geodetic network and for the statistical analysis of both observations and adjustment results have been written. This methodology has been applied to the data obtained from five surveys made from 1984 up to 1988 in the Caldera of Teide area, Tenerife (Canary Islands). During this period no significant deformations have been detected.
