Abstract
Las primeras tarjetas postales ven la luz en 1869 con el objetivo de abaratar los costes en el correo postal, al ser estos documentos de tan reducidas dimensiones su precio resulta más económico que las cartas ordinarias de la época. Desde ese momento su uso se generaliza llegando a consolidar una importantísima industria editorial con gran popularidad entre los ciudadanos. En tal sentido, es objeto de este trabajo aportar una base textual para el estudio de la tarjeta postal en España y, al mismo tiempo realizar un análisis integral de este soporte, de las colecciones que la agrupan y de los sistemas utilizados para su descripción con el fin de definir un modelo estructurado y universal para la catalogación de tarjetas postales.
A continuación, y como consecuencia de la falta de estudios que muestren el uso que estos materiales tienen en España, se presenta un estudio objetivo a partir de una encuesta de tipo probabilístico distribuida por todo el territorio español que alumbra resultados positivos en cuanto a la valoración de estos documentos entre los ciudadanos españoles. Al mismo tiempo se aporta un análisis de las colecciones de tarjeta postales custodiadas en las instituciones culturales españolas así como un modelo analítico para la descripción documental de la tarjeta postal.
Seguidamente se aplica el diseño propuesto a una selección de 300 documentos pertenecientes a la colección de tarjetas postales del Ateneo de Madrid. Para lograr este objetivo se elabora previamente un inventario de la colección y una clasificación de cada uno de los documentos contenidos en la misma y finalmente se analizan los resultados obtenidos de la aplicación así como la pertinencia del diseño elaborado.
Finalmente se aportan las conclusiones de todo el trabajo de investigación, las referencias bibliográficas utilizadas y los índices de figuras, gráficos y tablas, así como los anexos que complementan la tesis doctoral.
[ABSTRACT] The first postcards saw the light in 1869 with the aim to reduce costs in the postal service, because of its small size the price was cheaper than ordinary letters of the time. Since then its use became widespread even consolidating one of the most important publishing industry with great popularity among citizens. In this sense, the subject of this doctoral thesis is to provide a textual basis for the study of the postcard in Spain and, at the same time, make a comprehensive analysis of this document, the postcards collections and the systems used for its description, in order to define a structured and universal for cataloguing these documents.
Next, due to the lack of studies that show the use that these materials have in Spain, an objective study has been developed by using a survey with a probabilistic sampling distributed throughout the Spanish territory and it shows positive results regarding the valuation of these documents between Spanish citizens. At the same time an analysis of the postcard collections guarded in Spanish cultural institutions is provided as well as a documentary analytic model for describing postcard.
Lastly the proposed design is applied to a selection of 300 documents from the Ateneo's postcard collection. To achieve this goal, previously an inventory of the collection and classification of each of the documents contained in it was made and, at last the results obtained from the application and the relevance of the elaborated design were analyzed.
Finally the findings of all the research, bibliographic references and indexes of figures, graphs and tables together with the attachments that complement the thesis were provided.
