Abstract
El objetivo de este trabajo es proporcionar evidencia empírica de las diferencias, si existen, en los resultados tecnológicos y económicos entre empresas manufactureras españolas con y sin perfil innovador, una vez que se controla por determinados efectos individuales predeterminados a la decisión de invertir en I+D+i. El análisis presta especial atención a los posibles cambios de comportamiento durante la presente crisis económica. Las estimaciones realizadas proporcionan evidencia de una mejor evolución global de las empresas con perfil innovador en términos de las innovaciones obtenidas, productividad, empleo o ven-tas. Este comportamiento más favorable se acentúa en el caso de las empresas que realizan actividades de I+D+i de forma persistente, incluso durante la crisis.
Our objective is to provide evidence of the differences, if they exist, in the technological and economic results between innovative and non-innovative manufacturing Spanish companies, once we control for certain individual effects predetermined to the decision to invest in R&D&I. The analysis pays special attention to possible changes in firms behavior during the current economic crisis. Our estimates provide evidence of a better global evolution of innovative firms in terms of the generation of innovations, productivity, employment and sales. This more favorable behavior is emphasized in the case of companies that persistently carry out R&D&I activities, even during the crisis.
