Abstract
Magnetic properties of low dimensional materials are considered one of the main research topics worldwide. These materials are interesting not only for its potential technological applications but also for the possibility of studying new physical phenomena that only appear at a very small scale. Current technology allows manufacturing new materials with dimensions on the nanometer scale which has given rise to new applications in various areas. The work presented below is related to two of them: magnetic devices and biomedicine. Nanomaterials fabrication techniques can be either physical or chemical. Chemical techniques are generally more widely used in the case of magnetic nanoparticles due to the big amount of material that can be obtained and its lower costs. On the other hand, the nanoparticle production using physical techniques is lower, but they allow a wide variety of compositions and have a greater control over the structure. An example of this fabrication technique is the combination of thin film growing techniques with optical or electronbeam lithography. Using these methods, complex nauostructures have been manufactured like synthetic autiferromagnetic devices, that is, materials with several magnetic layers which interact with each other and allow different magnetization states in the absence of an external magnetic field applied. Such structures are of interest in areas like magnetic devices or biomedicine, in which their properties may lead to new applications that do not require a large amount of material. In this work we have studied multilayer magnetic nanostructures with a geometry that favors the presence of different magnetic states in the remanence state. These structures have been fabricated considering their potential applications in magnetic devices and biomedical technology. The magnetic material studied is the FeCo alloy due to its large magnetization, which favors its possible applications. The first part of the work is focused on the fabrication of FeCo thin films and the study of their magnetic and structural characterization...
