Abstract
Nuestra intención con esta investigación es llevar a cabo un acercamiento general que determine la naturaleza y esencia de un fenómeno interdisciplinar que abarca un enorme campo de estudio, como es el imaginario fantástico surgido y cohesionado en Inglaterra durante la era victoriana, dentro de sus correspondientes manifestaciones en el ámbito de la creación literaria y artística. Nuestra tesis busca demostrar el hecho de que dicho imaginario fantástico victoriano se fundamenta en lo que podríamos designar como una relación dialéctica de confrontación creativa para con el pensamiento victoriano dominante, la industrialización, el materialismo científico y la represión moral y sexual. Asimismo, buscamos profundizar en la idea de que las bases de los mitos y las leyendas se cohesionan en la era victoriana gracias a esta mecánica de confrontación dialectal, cimentando las bases del imaginario fantástico de la modernidad contemporánea en una suerte de nueva configuración de mitos y figuraciones de lo fantástico que entrarán a formar parte del imaginario de la cultura popular ya entrado el siglo XX. Para finalizar, nuestra intención es demostrar que las manifestaciones literarias y artísticas victorianas que reflejan las pulsiones de lo fantástico se imbrican en un paradigma simbólico para articular transcripciones de la experiencia humana, de su conciencia, su mente y su entorno social en la modernidad, utilizando las supersticiones, el folklore y las antiguas creencias en lo sobrenatural para para indagar en la vida instintiva, material o sublimada del hombre, el cual, sujeto a organigramas represivos, genera un cúmulo de ansiedades, miedos y deseos que se desarrollan en el subconsciente para ser catalizados a través de la literatura y las artes.
Our aim with this research is to carry out a general approach that determines the nature and essence of an interdisciplinary phenomenon that covers a broad field of study, as it is the fantastic imaginary that emerged and was cohesioned in England during the Victorian Age, with its corresponding manifestations in the area of the literary and artistic creation. Our thesis aims to demonstrate the fact that the Victorian fantastic imaginary is based on what we could appoint as a dialectical relationship of a 8 creative confrontation with the dominant system of thought that characterizes the Victorian Age, with its industrialization, its scientific materialism and its moral and sexual repression. Likewise, we search to deepen in the idea that the basis of myths and legends draw together in the Victorian Age thanks to this dialectical relationship, cementing the basis of the fantastic imaginary of the contemporary modernity in a kind of a new configuration of myths and figurations of the fantastic that will become part of the imaginary of the popular culture of the twentieth century. As a conclusion, our intention is to demonstrate that the Victorian`s artistic and literary manifestations that reflects the drive of the fantastic imbricates themselves in a symbolic paradigm that is used to articulate transcriptions of the human experience, of its conscience, its mind an its social environment in the modern culture, using superstitions, folklore and the old beliefs in the supernatural to look into the instinctive life, material and sublimated of the human being, which, subject to repressive organigrams, generates a cumulus of anxietys, fears and desires that develops in the subconscious to be catalysed through the arts and literature...
