Abstract
Los progresistas intentaron crear la imagen de una Reina que encajara con su proyecto propio de Estado-nación, liberal y burgués. Con este propósito mezclaron cuatro elementos: la edad, el género, la españolidad y el carácter burgués. El modelo simbólico progresista tuvo dos fases: la de la creación de la imagen de la “reina niña” como “iris de paz y libertad” entre 1833 y 1839, y luego, entre 1840 y 1843, el de la forja de la reina como una “alumna de la libertad”. El deseo de establecer esta imagen conllevó una batalla en la corte, especialmente durante la Regencia del general Espartero. Hubo entonces en Palacio tres grupos: esparteristas, agentes de María Cristina, y seguidores del infante Francisco de Paula. La batalla en la corte se saldó con el golpe palatino de noviembre de 1843 que acabó con el gobierno progresista de Olózaga.

The target to establish this image forzed to a battle in the Court, especially during the Regency of the general Espartero. There were then three groups in the Palace: Esparteristas, Maria Cristina’s agents, and followers of Francisco de Paula de Borbón. The battle in the court was finished with the manauver in Palace of November 1843 that finished with the progressive government of Olózaga.
