Abstract
La presente investigación aborda el estudio del tratamiento informativo de las noticias emitidas en los noticiarios españoles relacionadas con las personas refugiadas, en un periodo de tiempo puntual enmarcado por dos acontecimientos significativos: puesta en marcha del Acuerdo entre la Unión Europea y Turquía (20 de marzo de 2016) y la cita electoral más importante a nivel nacional en España, las elecciones Generales del 26 de junio de ese mismo año. Un número sin precedentes de personas en todo el mundo se han visto obligadas a huir de sus hogares por conflictos bélicos y persecución en sus países de origen. Las cifras hablan por sí solas cuando se hace referencia a la actual situación migratoria; de acuerdo con la Organización Internacional de Migraciones (OIM) más de 485 personas murieron en el Mediterráneo en los dos primeros meses del presente año 2017 y casi un millón y medio de personas llegaron al sur de Europa arriesgando sus vidas al cruzar el mar de forma precaria a lo largo de los dos últimos años. La emergencia de refugiados en Europa pone a prueba los sistemas de asilo y recepción, en un momento clave en el que los Estados miembros de la Unión Europea se enfrentan a uno de los mayores desafíos de nuestra época. En este sentido, el pasado mes de marzo de 2016 la Unión Europea dispuso un acuerdo con Turquía basado en la reubicación de las personas solicitantes de asilo. Según denuncian numerosas organizaciones sociales, como el propio ACNUR, Médicos Sin Fronteras, Save the Children y la Comisión Española de Ayuda al Refugiado (CEAR), Amnistía Internacional, entre otras, el pacto no responde a las exigencias dictadas por el derecho internacional, no respeta la Convención de Ginebra de 1951 del Estatuto del Refugiado y atenta contra los derechos humanos...
The present study focuses on the informative treatment of the Spanish TV news broadcasts related with refugees during the period between two significant events: the implementation of the Treaty between European Union and Turkey (20th March 2016) and the most important national electoral appointment in Spain, the June 26th elections of the same year. A number of persons without precedents have been forced to flee from their homes due to war conflicts and persecution in their countries of origin. The figures speak for themselves when referred to the current migrations situation; according to the International Migrations Organization (IMO), at least 485 persons died in the Mediterranean during the first two months of the present year 2017 and nearly one and a half million persons arrived to Southern Europe, risking their lives during the past two years. The emergency situation of refugees in Europe is putting on trial the current asylum and reception systems at a key moment when the European Union member states face one of the greatest challenges of our times. In this sense, last March 2016, European Union made an agreement with Turkey on the re-settlement of asylum seekers. According to allegations of several social organizations, among others UNHCR, Doctors without Borders, Save the Children and the Spanish Refugee Aid Commission (CEAR) and Amnesty International, the pact does not respond to the requirements of international law, nor does it respect the Geneva Convention of 1951 on the Status of Refugees and the supplementary protocol, undermining human rights...
