Abstract
This thesis consists of two parts, the conceptual framework and three different researches of a common theme: the youth labor market in Mexico during the period 2005-2015. The research is done based on the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (ENOE) of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI). In the first research an analysis of labor market conditions over time and by cohort is elaborated (15 to 18, 19 to 24, 25 to 29, and 30 to 34). In the second, an annual labor rate or a synthetic index for the labor situation of young people is determined, by entity and for the country, to provide a summary of the working conditions and the paths that each state has for youth. In the third research, regarding young people from 15 to 25 years of age, an empirical analysis through the Heckman model is realized, in which we can review what is happening at each age and in each year through a probabilistic model in which the relationship of education, experience, and wages is measured, along with changes in the labor conditions inside the labor market by age. This review takes into account human capital theory through the Mincer equation as well as an analysis over time through comparative statistics in the period of 2005-2015. The contributions of this chapter are that, for the first time, an analysis of the labor market and of the working conditions of young people in Mexico is done, and this allows us to observe the experiences of youth over time and in each year. Thus, an analysis of transversal and temporal type is done. In addition, the marginal effects for all data are calculated, and not just for the averages as has been done in different scientific papers. Also, for the first time, workers who do not receive income have been included in the model to prevent selection bias. In this sense, Heckman two-stage model is estimated and then Heckman's Maximum Likelihood model...
