Abstract
The entry of Argentina into the XXI century coincided with one of its major crises. This period brought with it an increase in cinema production in the country, especially in the documentary area. The production of this work responded both to the incidence on the public sphere of the decomposition of neoliberalism and the level of adaptation of the documentary as recognisable as a device to represent the historical reality. Some documentaries were distinguished by their capacity to evoke and offer the viewers determined images of the 2001 crisis. These recreations responded to the use of a specific cinema discourse which, through its narrative structures and specific cinematographic forms and, the result of specific production and descriptive conditions, distinguished them from other contemporary films. This research has addressed how these recreations from Argentinean documentaries recreated the 2001 crisis. Its principal objective consisted of determining whether these narrations constructed common images regarding this historical world, as well as what were the narrative and cinematographic strategies used to produce the discourse. From this general objective other specific finalities arose. In the first place, this thesis has tried to identify the themes which were most repeated in the films and establish if these were coincident. In the second place, it endeavoured to access the narrative structures of the films selected and to verify whether they present regularities. This objective included examining the characters of the narratives, determining the role of each one and explaining how they are defined. The third specific objective consisted of studying the modalities of documentary representation used to evoke the 2001 crisis and establish what similarities and differences were derived from the films studied. Within this intention were included the rhetorical components present in the narrations and, specifically, the visual metaphors which appeared and the functions these fulfilled...
