Abstract
“The origins and development of the cinematography in Zamora” analyzes the cinematographic exhibition in this city and its province between its first screening in 1897 at the end of the dictatorship in 1975. It is a history of cinema in the city of the Duero, but it is also a story of Spain, since the local projections are related to the foreign ones. The research is a synthesis of more than 75 years of the history of Zamora in a sociocultural context, where the seventh art will be, on the one hand, the main spectacle of entertainment and, on the other,a meeting place for the residents of the capital and the villages. The work goes through several stages that are related to the social and political events that took place in the country, in the rest of Europe and in the United States. Since the cinematograph was presented in the city, there have been countless projections made during the twentieth century. The capital and the province were witnesses of the first traveling cinematographers, variety performances, the golden age of the silent era, the transition to the sound film, the competition between the two theaters of the city, the establishment of the first stable cinemas, and the beginning of the decadence of the seventh art.The research is mainly based on hemerographic, oral and bibliographical sources, local and national, and even international. Through quantitative and qualitative methodological techniques, it is intended to establish a diachronic design of the research to establish the best results. Quantitative techniques based on statistical and economic data have served a sa reference to establish the number of rooms, their prices and characteristics. On the other hand, qualitative methodologies have been used to compare the cinematographic exhibitionin Zamora with the rest of the cities in Spain...
