Abstract
La dinámica entre innovación, cooperación y subsidiarias exportadoras se ha analizado de manera dual, sin embargo, la interacción simultánea entre estos tres conceptos no ha sido ampliamente desarrollada. El interés prioritario de este documento es examinar la interrelación de estos elementos y determinar ¿cuáles son los efectos de los distintos tipos de cooperación en innovación sobre las exportaciones de las empresas subsidiarias? Para ello, se analizarán las empresas ubicadas en España por medio de la base de datos procedente del Panel de Innovación Tecnológica (PITEC). El principal hallazgo es el contraste entre el desempeño cooperativo e innovador de las subsidiarias de los sectores de alta y de baja intensidad tecnológica. El comportamiento entre estos dos tipos de empresas es opuesto y sugiere una clara diferencia de objetivos empresariales. Para las subsidiarias exportadoras de alta intensidad tecnológica, cooperar con los competidores, consultores y universidades en Estados Unidos y otros países tiene un impacto positivo en la intensidad exportadora. Mientras que, en las subsidiarias del sector de bajo contenido tecnológico la cooperación se limita a la colaboración con las consultoras y a socios locales.
