Abstract
Diabetes is a chronic disease, characterized by an absolute or relative deficiency of insulin, which produces important alterations mainly in the carbohydrates metabolism. In type 2 diabetes, we face the situation of insulin resistance. The relationship between diabetes and numerous cancers, such as pancreatic cancer, has been observed. However, this relationship is not entirely clear since it is unknown whether it should be treated as a risk factor that predisposes the diabetic patient to pancreatic cancer; or on the other hand, if the diabetic state is an early manifestation of the tumor and can help us to diagnose it. Pancreatic cancer is a very aggressive type of cancer, since it is usually asymptomatic and when diagnosed, is usually quite advanced. It is therefore very important to identify both their risk factors and their manifestations, in order to increase the survival of patients who suffer from it.
