Abstract
Esta tesis indaga sobre la elección desde una perspectiva sociológica y de género, tomando como referente empírico la elección de estudios universitarios y centrándose en la elección de estudios de trabajo social. Estudios que conducen a una profesión claramente marcada en su génesis, imagen e identidad por el género. Estas elecciones preconfiguran lo que será en años futuros la situación de la segregación horizontal en el espacio profesional. Además, las profesiones ligadas a estudios universitarios se sitúan entre las más deseadas,las que tienen una mayor visibilidad y las que se perciben como más dependientes de la elección personal y menos de las circunstancias y barreras sociales por lo que suelen ser percibidas como elecciones “libres” en las que se manifiestan las tendencias y deseos más íntimos y por ello tienden a reforzar en el imaginario colectivo la idea de naturalezas diferentes en hombres y mujeres...
This thesis examines choice from a sociologic and gender perspective, taking as empirical reference the choice of university studies and focusing on the choice of social work studies. Studies that lead to a profession clearly affected on its genesis, perception and identity by gender. These choices preconfigure what will be in years to come the situation of horizontal segregation in the professional sphere. Also, professions linked to university education are amongst the most wanted, the ones with the most prominence and the ones perceived as more motivated by personal choice and less by circumstances and social barriers. Therefore, they are usually regarded as “free” choices that reveal the tendencies and most intimate wants of the individual and thus they tend to reinforce the idea of the different natures of men and women in the collective imagination...
