Abstract
El proyecto de un túnel que una Europa y África bajo el estrecho de Gibraltar lleva en desarrollo desde hace más de treinta años, a lo largo de los cuales se ha generado una gran cantidad de datos geológicos y geotécnicos. La compleja geología de la zona, unida a lo poco accesible del fondo del Estrecho, hacen que la caracterización geotécnica de los materiales involucrados sea compleja y económicamente muy costosa. Los resultados de ensayos geotécnicos realizados en muestras provenientes de la Unidad de Almarchal han sido analizados mediante técnicas estadísticas lo que ha permitido obtener parámetros geotécnicos de suficiente calidad como para ser empleados en las futuras fases del proyecto.
The Project of a tunnel between Europe and Africa under the Strait of Gibraltar has been developing for more than thirty years. During this time, a great amount of geological and geotechnical data has been generated. The complex geology of the area, together with the difficult accessibility to the bottom of the Strait, make the characterization of the involved materials very complex and expensive. The results of geotechnical tests executed on samples from Almarchal Unit have been analyzed by means of statistical methods allowing to obtain geotechnical parameters useful in future steps of the project.
