Abstract
La enseñanza a distancia ha sufrido numerosas transformaciones, su naturaleza no presencial la ha atado inherentemente al desarrollo tecnológico de la comunicación, pero ¿qué cambios en la educación a distancia están por venir? El propósito de este trabajo es actualizar las propuestas metodológicas en el terreno de la comunicación mediada por computadora con nuevas contribuciones tecnológicas, ofreciendo un modelo de enseñanza de español como segunda lengua que combina el uso de la realidad virtual inmersiva con la metodología de clase invertida. No obstante, creemos que el mero uso de una tecnología avanzada no garantiza per se una mejora en la enseñanza y el aprendizaje, razón por la cual nuestro se comparará un modelo basado en el uso de RVI con otro basado en una herramienta ampliamente estudiada: la videocámara. Para ello, se establecieron dos perfiles de estudiante: RV y videocámara. Se creó para ambos grupos un curso Moodle en donde los alumnos acceden de manera independiente a los contenidos a practicar durante la sesión virtual. La diferencia estriba en que un perfil lleva a cabo la sesión en el entorno virtual llamado Facebook Spaces y el otro lo hace mediante un cliente de videoconfencia (Openmeetings o similar). Después de finalizar los cursos se llevarán a cabo entrevistas en profundidad como método de recogida de datos, lo que será complementado por el contenido audiovisual de las sesiones. En el momento de la comunicación habremos finalizado el estudio piloto con el perfil RVI, por lo que podremos ofrecer algunos primeros fragmentos de vídeo de las sesiones e impresiones sobre Facebook Spaces que creemos resultarán 2 interesantes para la audiencia.
Distance learning has suffered numerous transformations, its non-presential nature has tied it inherently to the technological development of communications. It is obvious that the technological advances have not stopped, then, what changes in distance education are expected to come? The aim of this work is to update the methodological proposals in Computer Mediated Communication area with new technological contributions by offering a model of L2 distance learning that combines the use of immersive virtual reality (IVR) with the flipped classroom methodology. However, we believe the only use of advanced technology does not guarantee per se an improvement in teaching and learning, reason why will be compared a model based on the use of VR and other based on a hardware very well studied: the webcam. Two profiles were created: VR and webcam. A Moodle course were created for both groups; here they get access to the content they have to practice during the virtual session. The difference is that the VR profile will use the environment called Facebook Spaces, as the webcam profile will use a video conference client (Openmeetings or similar). After completing the courses, a qualitative research will be carried out, using the in-depth interview method of data collection, complemented by audio-visual content. In relation to the phase of the research we are in, on the second week of May we will have completed the pilot with the VR group, so we will offer some initial impressions and fragments of the sessions we consider will be of interest for the audience.
