Abstract
Since the implementation of the bilingual program in Madrid in 2014, the number of so called bilingual schools keeps growing. On the other hand, the current European and Spanish laws of Education emphasize the development of key competences. In this context, the goal of this investigation is to test the effectiveness, in terms of scientific and linguistic competences, of a bilingual training based on active methodologies (problem- based learning approach) opposite to a more traditional teacher centered learning. This investigation is a quasi-experimental research with scholars in 6th grade as sample. The samples are the divided into: experimental and control groups both sharing socioeconomic characteristics and similar levels of knowledge regarding the matter of study. To be able to develop, and hence apply, the leaning process by the experimental group, a lesson plan on Chemical Reactions based on inquiry is being created. As regards gathering information, the method used is the survey. For this purpose, several question papers are being developed to check both for alternative conceptions about the issue and the knowledge restructuring of both groups. Finally, the hypothesis will be verified through the correspondent statistic analysis.
