Abstract
En este trabajo, hemos realizado un estudio del síndrome metabólico en pacientes psicogeriátricos y su relación con fármacos antipsicóticos, considerando los efectos secundarios que tienen éstos y las posibles alteraciones metabólicas que pueden producir. Se ha estudiado la prevalencia y factores de riesgo del síndrome metabólico en nuestro grupo de estudio, así como sus criterios diagnósticos aceptados y su tratamiento con los diferentes componentes encargados de su regulación. Hemos aprendido a cuestionar la eficiencia de los medicamentos y cómo en el mundo de la farmacología la revisión bibliográfica es una constante mantenida, hemos comprendido lo importante que es apoyarse en las guías de práctica clínica y en boletines fármaco-terapéuticos para la toma de decisiones.
In this work, we have conducted a study of metabolic syndrome in psychogeriatric patients and their relationship with antipsychotic drugs, considering the side effects they have and the possible metabolic changes that can occur. The prevalence and risk factors of the metabolic syndrome have been studied in our study group, as well as their accepted diagnostic criteria and their treatment with the different components responsible for its regulation. We have learned to question the efficiency of medicines and as in the world of pharmacology the bibliographic review is a constant maintained, we have understood how important it is to rely on clinical practice guidelines and pharmacotherapeutic bulletins for decision making.
