Abstract
[ABSTRACT] The diagenetic history of the Carixian (Lower Jurassic) crinoidal Jimestones outcropping in the central pan of the Subbetic Zone (External Zones, Betic Cordillera) is discussed in this paper. The most important diagenetic events that are registered are the followings: the cementation of the facies, and the local formation of dolomite, during early diagenesis; the development of stylolites and the formation of chert nodules at the base of these limestones during mid-diagenesis, and finally, the filling of fradures and veins by sparry calcite during late diagenesis.
