Abstract
El estudio de la fotografía y su relación con la arquitectura ha sido contemplado en la bibliografía existente desde muy amplias formas, de las puramente técnicas a los recorridos filológicos, pasando por los biográficos, siendo pocos los que atraviesan las líneas del puro análisis tecnológico para estudiar las consecuencias del uso de una técnica u otra en los aspectos formales o los que, además de realizar un detallado inventario de imágenes, las vinculan al momento cultural en el que fueron creadas.
Tras el análisis de todas ellas y ante la inexistencia, además, de cualquier estudio pormenorizado previo, y para el caso español, nos planteamos realizar la tesis doctoral Fotografía y Arquitectura en España (1839-1886), que analiza y expone las relaciones entre ambas disciplinas desde la fecha oficial de la creación de la fotografía hasta el fallecimiento del fotógrafo de origen francés, Jean Laurent, por ser la figura que a través de su firma comercial, ejemplificó de forma excepcional todas las posibles vías de desarrollo que la fotografía de arquitectura alcanzaría en el siglo XIX. En un nuestra metodología hemos explicado las cuestiones técnicas y su responsabilidad sobre las formas producidas. También responde a las razones que motivaron la elección de los edificios y monumentos a fotografiar, para concluir cual fue el destino principal de todas esas fotografías. Es decir, esta tesis trata de dar respuesta al cómo, cuándo, quién, porqué y para qué se produjo fotografía de arquitectura en España, porque sólo respondiendo a estas preguntas puede llegarse a realizar un estudio lo más completo y panorámico posible sobre este género en nuestro país, dar las claves de su posterior desarrollo y establecer sus puntos de conexión con la historia del arte.
The study of photography and its relationship to architecture has been referred to in the literature from a very large forms, from purely philological techniques paths, through the biographical, with few crossing pure lines to study technological analysis the consequences of use of one technique or another in the formal or who, in addition to a detailed inventory of images, linking the cultural moment in which they were created. After analyzing all of them and in the absence also of any previous detailed study for the Spanish case, we considered making the thesis Photography and Architecture in Spain (1839-1886), which analyzes and explains the relationship between the two disciplines from the official date of the establishment of photography to the death of a French photographer, Jean Laurent, as the figure through its commercial firm, exceptionally exemplified all possible ways of developing the architectural photography reached in the nineteenth century. In our methodology we explained the technical issues and responsibility on the forms produced. It also analyzes the reasons for choosing to photograph buildings and monuments, to conclude which was the main target of all these pictures. That is this thesis attempts to answer the how, when, who, why and what architectural photography took place in Spain, because only answering these questions can be reached to conduct a study as comprehensive and panoramic possible about this genre in our country, give back the keys to his development and establish their points of connection to the history of art.
