Abstract
Se plantea, como materia de estudio de la Tesis Doctoral, la investigación sobre el Prerrafaelismo, trazando un recorrido desde la literatura inglesa como generadora de dicha estética, pasando por las letras francesas e italianas como intermediarias en el espectro románico, hasta llegar a la literatura de la Península Ibérica, atendiendo a la producción en castellano y en catalán. El presente estudio se proyecta desde la disciplina de la Historia Literaria, ordenando y contemplando el origen y el desarrollo textual de los presupuestos estéticos que ordenan la presencia del Prerrafaelismo en un amplio espectro literario europeo. En justa correspondencia, se ha impuesto la opción metodológica de la Literatura Comparada, abordada mediante la combinación del comparatismo diacronista de orden histórico literario y el comparatismo sincronista de orden teórico literario.El desarrollo de los contenidos se ordena mediante cuatro capítulos. En los tres primeros se avanza desde el origen del movimiento prerrafaelista en Inglaterra –atendiendo a sus autores fundacionales y a sus etapas de desarrollo–, para poder plantear la proyección de modelos y relacionar el influjo e influencia que ejercieran en diversas tradiciones literarias europeas, como, ya en el área románica, en Francia e Italia, y acceder a las letras castellanas y catalanas, enfocando un corpus representativo de autores y obras. En el cuarto y último capítulo se analizan elementos argumentales y formales prerrafaelistas, mediante la atención a tres obras literarias, derivadas del corpus anterior: La damisel•la santa de Raimon Casellas, Flor de santidad de Ramón del Valle-Inclán y El tercer mundo de Pilar de Valderrama.Con estas premisas y el desarrollo de contenidos resumido, se evidencian unos objetivos, documentados con una amplia producción literaria y asentados sobre los necesarios referentes plásticos: objetivos que prueban la consolidación de una propuesta artística, asumida por las literaturas europeas; ámbito en el que se va delimitando una praxis románica y, concéntricamente hispana, probada autores y textos en las lenguas castellana y catalana.
The subject of study proposed in this Doctoral Thesis, is an investigation of the Pre-Raphaelite movement, outlining a journey from English literature as the seed of such aesthetic, going through French and Italian writing as agents of the Romanesque spectrum, arriving to the Iberian Peninsula’s Literature, considering the production both in Spanish and Catalan. The present study is shown from the discipline of Literary History, arranging and considering the origin and development of the authorship, the texts, the aesthetic premises that arrange the Pre-Raphaelite presence in a wide literary spectrum, within continental frontiers. In fair return, the methodological option of Compared Literature has prevailed, approached through combining comparative diachronism of historic literary order and the comparative synchronism of theoretic literary order. The content’s development is organized in four chapters. The first three advance from the origins of the Pre-Raphaelite movement in England – considering its founding authors and its development phases -, in order to lay out the projection of models and relate their influx and influence in the diverse European literary traditions, like, in the Romanesque field, in France and Italy, and access the Castilian and Catalan writing, focusing on a representative corpus of authors and pieces. In the fourth and last chapter, the Pre-Raphaelite’s plot and formal elements are analyzed, through specific attention to three literary works, from the previous corpus: La damisel•la santa by Raimon Casellas, Flor de santidad by Ramón del Valle-Inclán and El tercer mundo by Pilar de Valderrama. With the premises and development of contents here summarized, the main objectives come clear, documented with a wide literary production and established over the essential plastic art’s model’s objectives that prove the consolidation of an artistic proposal, assumed by European literatures; field where a Romanesque praxis is delimited and, concentrically Hispanic, as proven by authors and texts in Spanish and Catalan.
