Abstract
This Project was born in the laboratory Heron, at the University of Montréal, Canada. The idea was learn and develop a game since the beginning, for a specific purpose, test and study the cognition and the patient’s reasoning while he is playing the videogame. Meetings were held periodically with the people involved to achieve these objectives. Having knowledge about cognition and the skills they wanted to study, they guided me in the development. A 3d environment was built to immerse the player in the videogame, with some cognitive exercises. It wasn’t enough to test various cognitive skills, so few mini games were created, each one searching a specific skill to test. The game takes place in a hospital, the patient is amnesic and he needs to tests his cognitive skills. The development of this game, Hospital Amnesia, was difficult at the beginning, because of my lack of knowledge of the engine, but I learned fast and I applied what I learned to the game. The game engine used was Unity 3d, a free software with a big potential for independent developer. Despite having the pro version in the laboratory, it was not necessary, and the free version offers the possibility to continue working on my return, and correct or expand what the laboratory needs.
