Abstract
En este Trabajo de Fin de Máster se aborda la temática de la idea del vegetarianismo en el mundo clásico, principalmente en el mundo griego y romano y cómo después este tipo de ideas se traspasan al cristianismo primitivo. Para ello y tras unas consideraciones sobre si es apropiado o no utilizar el término vegetarianismo cuando hablamos del mundo antiguo, se analizarán las corrientes filosófico-religiosas que en el mundo clásico abordaron esta cuestión, comenzando por el orfismo y el pitagorismo en Grecia y continuando con movimientos como el neopitagorismo y el neoplatonismo que abordan esta cuestión ya en época romana. A continuación, se aborda como estas ideas se reflejan también en el cristianismo primitivo, especialmente entre los primeros monjes y ascetas, que adoptaron posicionamientos sobre la abstinencia de ciertos alimentos y como esta circunstancia queda después plasmada en las primeras reglas monásticas que surgen en la Antigüedad tardía.
This paper is a research about the ideal of vegetarianism in the classical antiquity mainly in the Greco-Roman world, and its transfer to Early Christianity. For this purpose, initially we are going to explain the concept "vegetarianism" and if it is right when we are talking about the Antiquity. Then we are going to analyse philosophical and religious positions of vegetarianism in the ancient world, for example in Orphism and Pythagoreanism (in Greece) or in Neoplatonism and Neopythagoreanism (in the Roman period). After that, we are going to study these ideas in the Early Christianity particularly in the first monasticism and asceticism, and finally the materialisation of the idea in the first Monastic rules that appear in Late Antiquity.
