Abstract
Diversos estudios han puesto de manifiesto la repercusión que la deficiencia en magnesio (Mg) provoca en la biodisponibilidad de otros elementos como el calcio (Ca), fósforo (P), hierro (Fe), zinc (Zn), cobre (Cu) y manganeso (Mn). Estudios epidemiológicos, muestran que la ingesta de Mg en países industrializados, está por debajo del 30 por ciento de las Cantidades Diarias Recomendadas. El bajo consumo de estos minerales se relaciona con osteroporosis, fracturas óseas y alteraciones cardiovasculares. Estos problemas a nivel de la cavidad oral podrían dar lugar a disminución de hueso en la cresta alveolar y pérdida de altura, pérdida dentaria, acompañado de una estimulación pro-inflamatoria de las citokinas. A pesar que el contenido en Mg en el tejido dentario es muy pequeño, hay que tener presente la relación que los niveles de Mg guardan con el resto de minerales... These problems in the oral cavity could lead to decreased bone in the alveolar ridge and height loss, tooth loss, accompanied by a pro-inflammatory cytokine stimulation. Although the Mg content in the tooth is very small, keep in mind the relationship Mg levels stored with other minerals...
