Abstract
This doctoral thesis, titled Executions, conscience and teaching-learning in speech acts of requesting in Secondary Education, is classified within the field of pragmalinguistics, particularly within linguistic politeness. This study looks to analyse the execution of speech acts of requesting as well as the metalinguistic conscience that secondary school students possess based on this study, and to carry out a didactic proposal focused on the Spanish Language and Literature subject. In order to undertake this, we start off with an observation based on the existence in our society of preconceived ideas pertaining to the lack of politeness amongst adolescents, as well as their perception of the adult world, which they consider alien and remote. In this way, we ask ourselves if the absence of politeness amongst adolescents is a reality, working with the hypothesis with regard to, on the one hand, the relation between linguistic forms and, on the other, the pragmatic and sociolinguistic parameters. Our investigation is expanded on over the course of seven chapters. Firstly, we include the theoretical approach (Chapter 1) and the methodology (Chapter 2). Following this, we dedicate three chapters to the specific analysis of the requests obtained based on the methodology used. In this way, we carry out the analysis of the requests gathered by means of a questionnaire that follows a discourse completion test style (Chapter 3), as well as the study of the observed requests (Chapter 4) and the approach towards metapragmatic conscience through interviews about social habits (Chapter 5). Those results will be corroborated by means of the triangulation of data obtained (Chapter 6). The interpretation of the collected and analysed information will be undertaken in the conclusion (Chapter 7). Following these chapters, we will find, in appendix form, the analysis of school books and educational laws, together with the didactic proposal. It is worth mentioning that the aforementioned contents have been considered as an appendix as it was conceived as the result and consequence of the study, strictly speaking. At the end of our study the bibliography consulted can be located. Likewise, in the three appendices that conclude the thesis we can find the designed and utilised DCT questionnaire, the table with the linguistic variables that have been used to analyse the requests and the links to the included files in the USB stick are attached...
