Abstract
Durante las últimas décadas hemos presenciado la aparición de una vanguardia científica, conocida como la Tercera Cultura, de marcada naturaleza mediática y que suscita el interés de intelectuales de muy diversa índole, aunque todos ellos a favor de que la ciencia sea juez y parte en la toma de decisiones de profundo calado social y político. A modo tentativo planteo que algunas de las colaboraciones y los discursos que simpatizan con la Tercera Cultura en el contexto español ayudan a visualizar un complejo entramado de afinidades sociopolíticas y un pensamiento evolutivista en expansión.
In recent decades we have witnessed the emergence of a scientific vanguard, known as the Third Culture, which by means of a profound sensationalist and media-oriented approach, arises the interest of a wide range of scholars. Despite their difference in approach and discipline, these scholars share the idea that Science, with capital letter, should be both judge and jury and, therefore, the ultimate responsible when deciding about issues of deep social and political significance. I argue that some of the collaborations and trends sympathetic to the Third Culture in the Spanish context help to visualize a complex web of socio-political affinities identified nowadays with an expanding evolutionist thinking.
