Abstract
El nacimiento de la química moderna y su desarrollo a lo largo de los siglos XVIII y XIX se produce con una gran fuerza. Desde sus inicios se abarcaron no solo cuestiones de tipo conceptual sino que, además, tuvo un planteamiento eminentemente práctico, intentando dar solución a las necesidades planteadas por la sociedad. Dentro de este contexto se abordaron cuestiones relacionadas con la síntesis de nuevos pigmentos, mejoras en los procesos de tinción de tejidos y finalmente la obtención de nuevos colorants de origen totalmente sintético. En estos logros participaron muchos de los más eminentes químicos que protagonizaron aquella etapa de la historia de la ciencia, logrando no solo la obtención de nuevos materiales pictóricos sino también mostrando interés por las aplicaciones de sus conocimientos al studio de los materiales utilizados en la Antigüedad.
The birth of modern chemistry and its development happened with a great strength throughout 18th and 19th century. From its beginning it encompasses not only conceptual issues, but also had a very practical approach, trying to solve the needs expressed by society. Within this context, took place the development of issues related to the synthesis of new pigments, the improvements in the processes of fabrics staining and the obtaining of new synthetic dyes. In these achievements took part many of the most eminent chemists who have shaped this stage of the history of chemistry. These researchers not only achieved new pictorial materials, but also showed great interest in the application of their knowledge to the study of materials used in antiquity.
