Abstract
The thesis analyses the construction of transsexuality as contemporary collective identity. For this, a theoretical and historical approach to the category is presented, considering its expert configuration and management on the experience of transsexual people. On the one hand, scientific, medical and social disciplines, as well as legislation, produce transsexuality as pathology to lead back to the normative gender through a series of institutional resources and protocols. Over time, feminism and LGBT mobilization has generated resistance and rereading of this normative gender order. In this interaction between the expert and the experiential, this thesis analyses the ways that this identification as part of a gender, sex, sexuality and body are configured. All this in a social transformations context in continuous redefinition and crisis of modern social institutions that gave meaning to social life. The overall objectives of the thesis are twofold: first, to map and interpret the incorporation of masculinity and femininity in transsexuals, drawing some explanatory paths that address a second objective, build transsexualism as a theoretical and methodological tool to analyse collective gender identification processes. Using the methodology, an analytical system is built based on the uniqueness of transsexuality as a temporary stage to discuss the construction of "another" genre. This "other" genre is mainly formed through body modification, the staging of masculinity and / or femininity and location management in social structures that define identity. In a broad sense, these three aspects include people's life plans, through their body and its amendments they relate to their immediate environment and placed in the spatial and historically situated social structures. All from a vital precarious condition and problematize the normative...
