Abstract
The point of departure of this research is the fact that there does not exist, to date, an academic study which analyzes the family as microcosm in the theater of the Greater Cuba, understood to be that which is generated within and without the island, during the first five decades of the Revolution (1959-2009), from a common theoretical method which allows for the understanding of this creation as a system. The working hypothesis is that in this field of study there is a dramatization of the individual-family-society axis, vertebrated by the fracture caused by exile, and it is possible to apply the method of dramatological analysis to its most relevant texts to put into perspective the bridges between them and establish points of consensus and dissensus. A selection of Cuban dramatic texts whose contents dramatize the aforementioned fracture and whose structures offer a wide compositional range has been configured. After drawing up a list of all potentially relevant texts (annex 1), the final selection consists of Los siete contra Tebas (1968) by Antón Arrufat, El súper (1977) by Iván Acosta, Union City Thanksgiving (1982) by Manuel Martín Jr., Nadie se va del todo (1991) by Pedro R. Monge Rafuls, Letters from Cuba (2000) by María Irene Fornés and Retratos (2006) by Lillian Susel Zaldívar de los Reyes. The dramatological method, proposed by García Barrientos, uses highly precise terminology and its categorizations relate to writing, action, time, space, characters, and “vision” or dramatic reception. Based on this, a thorough analysis of each text has been carried out while, at the same time, the circumstances of publication and premiere have been reviewed, taking into account critical reception and the sociohistorical and political cultural map...
