Abstract
La reconstrucción del sistema verbal de la protolengua indoeuropea ha sido uno de los objetivos de los estudios de morfología comparada desde los comienzos de la disciplina. Sin embargo, la escasa presencia del imperativo en los textos empleados para la comparación y el carácter marginal de esta forma verbal dentro del sistema de las lenguas históricas, han relegado normalmente al imperativo a uno de los apartados menores de las descripciones morfológicas del que siempre parece haber habido poco que decir y donde las consideraciones individuales sobre cada morfema han tenido más peso que las visiones de conjunto del paradigma. En este trabajo, en cambio, hemos querido emplear el imperativo como pieza fundamental para el estudio de los procesos de creación y modificación de los paradigmas verbales y como puerta de acceso para comprender la relación entre la expresión de la modalidad y dichos desarrollos morfológicos. OBJETIVOS Y METODOLOGÍA: El objetivo principal de este estudio ha sido describir la evolución diacrónica de las formas de imperativo de las lenguas indoeuropeas antiguas como un conjunto de procesos de paradigmatización, para ver, en último término, si las expresiones modales gramaticalizadas en los morfemas de imperativo de dichas lenguas responden a un modelo común heredado o si tenemos que contar con procesos de morfologización distintos en cada lengua o familia de lenguas...
The reconstruction of the Indo-European protolanguage verbal system has been one of the aims of the studies of Comparative Morphology since the discipline emerged. Nevertheless, the scarce textual evidence of the imperative forms in the documents employed in the comparison and the marginal character of this verbal form within the verbal systems of historical languages have usually placed the imperative into one of the smaller sections of morphological descriptions, as if there was very little to say about it and individual considerations about each morpheme were much more important than overall approaches to the paradigm. In this research, however, we have tried to deal with the imperative as a key element for the study of creation and modification processes of verbal paradigms and as a way to understand the relationship between the expression of modality and the aforementioned morphological developments. OBJECTIVES AND METHODOLOGY: The main objective of this research has been to describe the diachronic evolution of the imperative forms in ancient Indo-European languages as a set of paradigmatization processes, in order to eventually see whether the modal expressions grammaticalized in the imperative morphemes of these languages are the result of an inherited common model or should be considered different morphologization processes specific to each language or group of languages...
