Abstract
This work presents the Aoidos tool, based on results obtained in two scansions of the same poetic corpus, the work of Gregório de Matos, one of them done manually and published by Rogério Chociay in his book Os Metros do Boca, and another produced automatically by Aoidos. The comparison shows some differences between the two scans: Aoidos found a significant number of verses more, which shows that Chociay did not work with all the poems; on the other hand, Chociay himself analysed with propriety the verses of Gregório with which he worked, while Aoidos made some mistakes that a human being would hardly commit. In any case, the results produced by the automatic approach, on the one hand, and those resulting from manual labor, on the other hand, were very compatible. This underscores the utility of the automatic tool, since it scales in a few minutes what it would take months to do if you use the usual reading process. This greater readiness in the results frees the researcher or scholar to devote his time to less tiresome and nobler activities, that is, to more detailed analyzes, for he can now have, at once, large amounts of data to work with, which makes the reading of poems different and possibly more enriching.
