Abstract
The Exposición Universal de Sevilla, celebrated in 1992, presented works of contemporary art within its programme 'Arte actual en los espacios públicos'. Standing out among them there were works of Ettore Spaletti, Eva Lootz, Per Kirkeby and Stephan Balkenhol; all of them located inside the 'Jardín del Guadalquivir'. Two years after the closure of the Universal Show the garden was closed, which left the citizens without access to the public art. In 2011 the park was reconditioned, but the sculptures were victim of the lack of maintenance until then, in adittion to the weather conditions and vandalism: Balkenhol's sculpture was cut off and missing, Spaletti's was repainted, etc. Since the park was re-opened this scenerio continues to be the same and it is gotten even worse, artistic pieces are being used as blackboards for graffiti and the environment shows a sloppy and deteriorated aspect. This text presents the documentation of the works mentioned -dispersed until now- and proposes the search for optimum solutions regarding conservation and diffusion of the sculptures and their landscaped environment, having in mind the artists' opinion from different interviews. It is fundamental to act urgently in order to safe the artistic legacy of the "Expo' 92" that perishes silently, under the responsability of an Entity that acts with apathy and goes against the laws.
