Abstract
El proteasoma es una proteasa altamente sofisticada diseñada para llevar a cabo la hidrolisis de ciertas proteínas que participan en procesos de gran relevancia a nivel celular. Hay algunas patologías de carácter grave que se producen por desajustes en estos procesos, como es el cáncer o enfermedades de origen inmunitario como puede ser el lupus. Es por esto, que se ha invertido mucho esfuerzo en la investigación y desarrollo de diferentes grupos de inhibidores de este complejo, con el fin de aumentar el arsenal terapeútico para hacer frente a este tipo de procesos patológicos. En la actualidad, estos esfuerzos se han visto recompensados con la aprobación de tres inhibidores del proteasoma como posible tratamiento frente al mieloma múltiple.
The proteasome is a highly sophisticated protease designed to carry out the hydrolysis of certain proteins that take part in processes of big relevancy at cellular level. There are some serious pathologies that take place by imbalance in these processes, like cancer or immunological diseases such as lupus. For this reason, a lot of efforts have been invested in the research and development of different inhibitors of this complex, in order to increase the therapeutic arsenal that faces up this type of pathological processes. At present these efforts have been rewarded with the approval of three proteasome inhibitors like possible treatment against multiple myeloma.
