Abstract
El objetivo de esta memoria de tesis ha sido el de analizar la figura del unicornio en la Europa cristiana occidental entre los siglos XI, XII y XIII a partir de la localización y comprensión de los elementos que establecieron su expresión literaria y visual en los diferentes contextos en los que se proyectó a este animal. Para realizar esta indagación he tomado todos los testimonios escritos que versan sobre este animal, entrando tanto en autores precedentes como contemporáneos, así como también de diversa naturaleza literaria; y por supuesto he profundizado en las diversas representaciones estéticas del animal, previas y contemporáneas.Para este trabajo he necesitado valerme de distintas metodologías, fundamentales han sido los pasos de la sociología, ya que gracias a ella he podido evaluar el contexto social, cultural y religioso vinculado a nuestro objeto de estudio, además he utilizado una metodología psicológica debido a la necesidad de profundizar en la simbología del unicornio dentro de determinados contextos. Esto me ha ayudado a reflexionar sobre la concepción y valor de las distintas figuras del animal en función del contexto que las fraguó. Asimismo, para poder realizar esta investigación he tenido que analizar diferentes fuentes primarias y secundarias, además de manejar una compleja y amplia bibliografía...
The objective of this thesis has been to analyse the figure of the unicorn in Western Christian Europe between the XI, XII and XIII centuries from the location and understanding of the elements that established their leterary and visual expression in the different contexts in those who projected this animal. To carry out this study I have taken all the written testimonies concerning this animal, entering both previous and contemporary authors, as well as various literary natures; and of course, I have researched into the aesthetic representations of the animal, previous and contemporary.For this work I have needed to avail myself of different methodologies. Essential, have been the steps of the sociology, because thanks to it I have been able to evaluate the social, cultural and religious context linked to our object of study, I have also used a Psychological methodology due to the need to deepen the symbolism of the unicorn within specific contexts. This has helped me to reflect on the conception and value of the different figures of the animal depending on the context that projected. In addition, in order to carry out this research, I have had to analyze different primary and secondary sources, as well as to managing a complex and extensive bibliography.
