Abstract
Mariana de Neoburgo fue la segunda mujer del último rey español de la dinastía de los Austrias, Carlos II. Elegida con rapidez tras la muerte de María Luisa de Orleans,debido a lo prolífico de su familia, su imposibilidad de engendrar el deseado heredero que diese continuidad a la monarquía hizo de sus diez años de reinado en España un periodo muy convulso. Tras la muerte de su esposo la reina caerá definitivamente en desgracia y será desterrada en Francia, lo que hará que su figura sea olvidada y su papel ensombrecido por una nueva dinastía que quería hacer oscuro todo el periodo anterior. El objetivo de este estudio ha sido ahondar, de forma amplia y rigurosa, en la figura de la reina haciendo un recorrido por su vida, aficiones, gustos y convicciones. El estudio se ha centrado en cuatro aspectos principalmente. Un primer apartado analiza la difícil situación política y personal que Mariana de Neoburgo vivió durante sus años de soberana, la cual derivará en un largo exilio de treinta y dos años. Un segundo capítulo explora los escenarios de su vida y la impronta que ésta dejó en ellos, lo que ha permitido ver las transformaciones decorativas y arquitectónicas que se llevaron a cabo en los distintos palacios en los que residió para adaptarlos a sus gustos y necesidades...
Maria Anna of Neuburg was the second wife of the last Spanish king of the Habsburg dynasty, Charles II. She was quickly chosen after the death of Maria Luisa of Orleans, the first wife of the King, due to the prolific nature of her family. However, her inability to generate the desired heir to give continuity to the monarchy made her ten years of reign in Spain a very convulsive period. After the death of her husband, the Queen fell definitively into disgrace and was exiled in France. As a result, her figure was forgotten and her role was overshadowed by a new dynasty interested in darkening the previous historical period.The objective of this research is to deepen our understanding in a broad and rigorous way of the figure of the Queen, through a journey of her life, hobbies, tastes, and convictions. The thesis is structured in four sections. The first one aims to understand the difficult political and personal situation that Maria Anna of Neuburg lived during her years as a sovereign and her long exile of thirty-two years.
