Abstract
Como se indica en el título: El uso simbólico de las unidades de longitud: Reflexiones críticas en torno a los patrones de medidades de el arte conceptual hasta la actualidad, a lo largo de esta investigación analizamos la compleja carga simbólica del concepto de medida a través de una selección de obras de arte contemporáneo.Los artistas elegidos pertenecen a diversas épocas y lugares, lo que no es óbice para que las reflexiones que plantean con sus piezas entorno a la idea de medida formen en conjunto un coherente y crítico análisis del devenir político, científico, social y cultural de la sociedad moderna. El trabajo de creación plástica que se ha llevado a cabo deforma paralela a la investigación teórica ha sido muy importante para el desarrollo general del proyecto. De hecho, los nombres de estas piezas creadas antes y durante el proceso de escritura, son los quedan título a cuatro de los cinco capítulos con los que se estructura el texto. Quisiera señalar que esta estrecha relación entre la investigación teórica y la praxis artística ha dado también sus frutos en una próxima exposición individual titulada Desmesura¹ (septiembre 2019) en el Centro Cultural Montehermoso de Vitoria-Gasteiz, gracias a la financiación que he recibido a través de su convocatoria “Proyectos artísticos 2019”...
As indicated in the title: The symbolic use of units of length. Reflections on the measures from conceptual art to the present, throughout this investigation we analyze the complex symbolic load of the concept of measurement through a selection of works of contemporary art. The chosen artists belong to different times and places, proposing with their pieces a big amount of reflections around the idea of measurement, bringing together a coherent and critical analysis of the political, scientific, social and cultural evolution of the Modern society. The creation of artworks that has been carried out in parallel to the theoretical research has been very important for the general development of the project. In fact, the names of these pieces created before and during the writing process, are the ones that give title to four of the five chapters with which the text is structured. I would like to point out that this close relationship between theoretical research and artistic praxis has also resulted in a forthcoming individual exhibition (September 2019) at the Montehermoso Cultural Center in Vitoria-Gasteiz. Carrying out this exhibition has been possible thanks to the funding i have received from the open call “Art Projects 2019”. The project presented entitled Desmesura brings together most of the personal works present in this text, as well as some other unpublished works...
