Abstract
Emigrados griegos de linaje noble establecidos en los reinos de la Monarquía Hispánica buscaron su acomodo en la sociedad del Antiguo Régimen a través del reconocimiento de su origen y de la concesión de prerrogativas sociales y económicas. Una de las vías para ello fue la petición de hábitos de Órdenes militares. Se estudian los casos de Manuel Sebasto Meliseno, Antonio Sebasto Pisciotta y de los hermanos Escipión y Pedro Mario Moccia Sebasto.
Greek emigrants of noble ancestry living in the kingdoms of the Spanish Monarchy tried to get an outstanding position in the society of the Ancien Régime through the recognition of their origin and the grant of social and economic privileges. One of the most common ways to get it was the request of a habit of a military order. This paper displays the cases of Emmanuel Sebastus Melissenus, Anthony Sebastus Pisciotta and the brothers Scipione and Peter Mario Moccia Sebastus.
