Se define la agudeza visual de mínimo visible, mínimo resoluble, mínimo reconocible y mínimo discriminable. Se estudian los factores que limitan la agudeza visual: calidad óptica de la imagen retiniana, factores anatómicos y fisiológicos, luminancia y contraste.
