Abstract
Con la presente tesis doctoral titulada “Análisis de personajes y modelos interpretativos en la obra cinematográfica de Clint Eastwood: tipologías y evolución”, se pretende analizar los principales personajes del mítico autor estadounidense, puesto que, tras los numerosos papeles que ha interpretado a lo largo de su extensa filmografía, su figura se ha mestizado con algunos de sus primeros personajes en la gran pantalla, como «Rubio» en El bueno, el feo y el malo (Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo, Sergio Leone, 1966) o «Harry Callahan» en Harry el sucio (Dirty Harry, Don Siegel, 1971), etiquetándolo, a su vez, dentro de un cierto tipo de masculinidad y encasillándolo como actor de largometrajes de acción, asociado siempre a caracteres violentos, machistas y xenófobos. El cambio de contexto, y sus posteriores trabajos en películas con un discurso más complejo y un planteamiento ideológico diferente, como en Los Puentes de Madison (The Bridges of Madison County, Clint Eastwood, 1995), Million Dollar Baby (Clint Eastwood, 2004) o Gran Torino (Clint Eastwood, 2008), ha provocado, igualmente, una evolución de los personajes interpretados a lo largo de su trayectoria cinematográfica, sorprendiendo tanto a espectadores como a críticos de cine de todo el mundo, y descubriéndose nuevas tipologías de personajes inéditos en su carrera en el séptimo arte...
This doctoral thesis entitled “Characters’ Analysis and Interpretive Models in the Clint Eastwood film work: Typologies and Evolution”, tries to analyze the main characters of the well-known American artist. After his large film career, he has played an amount of roles which have been mixed with some of his first characters on the big screen, such as «Rubio» in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo, Sergio Leone, 1966) or «Harry Callahan» in Dirty Harry (Don Siegel, 1971) labeling him, to a certain type of masculinity and classifying him most of times in action films, always associated with violent and xenophobic characters. Once the context changed, his next characters in film works within a complex discourse as The Bridges of Madison County (Clint Eastwood, 1995), Million Dollar Baby (Clint Eastwood, 2004) and Gran Torino (Clint Eastwood, 2008), have led him into a characters evolution, changing viewers and critics mind around the world, and discovering new typologies of unpublished characters in his career in the seventh art...
