Abstract
Uno de los colectivos más oprimidos y discriminados de España es el grupo étnico del pueblo gitano. Desde el comienzo de su historia en España, tras su llegada alrededor del año 1400, han sufrido discriminación tanto a nivel institucional como a nivel social, lo que ha provocado un aislamiento por parte de estos con la sociedad.
Actualmente España es uno de los países más seguros para esta población, pero día a día siguen teniendo que enfrentarse a unos estereotipos y tópicos que les
rodean y les impiden salir adelante para llegar tan lejos como el resto de la población general. Los medios de comunicación son lo que actualmente tienen la capacidad de influir en la sociedad para cambiar esos falsos estereotipos ylimpiar la imagen del pueblo gitano.
En su lucha contra esto, los jóvenes gitanos cada vez ven más referentes entre los suyos que les impulsan a demostrar a la sociedad que se puede luchar contra un futuro que parece llevarse impuesto a la hora de nacer siendo gitano.
One of the most oppressed and discriminated groups in Spain is the ethnic group of the Roma people. Since the beginning of their history in Spain, after their arrival around 1400, they have suffered discrimination both institutionally and socially, which has led to their isolation from society. Currently Spain is one of the safest countries for this population, but day by day they still have to face stereotypes and cliches that surround them and prevent them from getting ahead to get as far as the rest of the general population. The media are what currently have the capacity to influence society to change these false stereotypes and to clean up the image of the Roma people. In the struggle against this, young Roma are increasingly in seeing references among their own people who encourage them to demonstrate to society that they can fight against a future that seems to be imposed when being born a Gypsy
