Abstract
El español es una lengua representada por un sinfín de variedades que, aunque no suponen una barrera comunicativa, pueden ocasionar interferencias, especialmente, cuando uno de los interlocutores es no nativo. Por este motivo, es fundamental la incorporación del léxico hispanoamericano en la clase de Español como Lengua Extranjera. El profesor debe guiar al alumno a través de mecanismos de aprendizaje y asimilación de léxico que le proporcionen las herramientas necesarias para poder evitar infortunios comunicativos y ser capaz de comunicarse con éxito en todos los contextos hispanohablantes. Tras la revisión de los principales estudios realizados al respecto y el testimonio de 62 profesores de ELE, se analiza la inclusión del léxico hispanoamericano en la docencia y los mecanismos semánticos de acceso léxico recomendados para evitar los posibles infortunios comunicativos.

Spanish is a language with a high level of variation which, although does not represent a barrier to communication, can cause cross linguistic interference. This is especially true when one of the interlocutors is a non-native speaker. For this reason, it is essential to incorporate Spanish American lexis in the Spanish as a Foreign Language class. This will allow the teacher to guide their students through lexical learning and assimilation mechanisms and provide them with the necessary tools to avoid communicative failures. This is essential for the mastery of communication in all Spanish-speaking contexts. Following a thorough literature review enriched with 62 surveyed Spanish teachers, we will analyse the inclusion of Spanish American lexis in teaching. Furthermore, the recommended semantic mechanisms of lexical access will be examined in order to avoid potential communicative failures.
