Abstract
¿La experiencia institucional condiciona la actividad parlamentaria y el tipo de vínculo– personalista o programático– que une a los legisladores con los ciudadanos? En este trabajo se analizan los datos de opinión del Proyecto Élites Latinoamericanas de la Universidad de Salamanca (1994-2010) para caracterizar el ejercicio de la representación política en República Dominicana en la última década. Si las instituciones son un valor en sí mismo –lideran los procesos de modernización, generan aspiraciones colectivas y son responsables últimas de la calidad de la política– habría que esperar que el contacto con las instituciones a lo largo de estos quince años haya limitado el ejercicio particularista de la política, que históricamente ha caracterizado la vida política dominicana.

Do the institutional experiences determine the parliamentary activities and a kind of personalist or pragmatic connection that unite the legislators to the citizens? This work analyzes the data of the opinion of Proyecto Élites Latinoamericanas of the University of Salamanca (1994 - 2010) in order to characterize the political representation in Dominican Republic during the last decade. If the institutions are a value by themselves (they lead the modernization processes, they generate collective initiatives and they are ultimately responsible for the quality of their policies) it would have to expect that the contact made along the institutions throughout these last fifteen years have limited the elitist practice of the Dominican politics which have been the historical characteristic of this country.
