Abstract
El artículo presenta una reflexión sobre el denominado “fenómeno del pandillaje” en la capital peruana, siendo considerado como uno de los conflictos sociales más importantes de los últimos tiempos. No existen muchas investigaciones al respecto destacando principalmente los artículos periodísticos relacionados con el tema. En sus planteamientos, tanto unos como otros, soslayan todo lo que encierra y esconde el concepto de “pandillero/a”. Basándonos en la experiencia de Los Chacales, en el presente trabajo intentaremos analizar las relaciones de poder y sus mecanismos, así como deconstruir este “fenómeno” a través de un intenso trabajo de campo realizado.

This article presents a reflection on the urban youth violence in Lima, which is considered one of the most important conflicts over the past years. Apart from the journalistic articles, there are not many investigations related to this theme. During the past years local newspapers and television have reported extensively on this issue, usually recounting stories of young gang members or "pandilleros" in the Peruvian capital city but avoiding in-depth analysis of the situation and the real meaning of "pandillera/o". The analysis is based on the experience lived with the young gangs and the violence associated with them, as well as deconstruct this "phenomenon" through intensive fieldwork.
