Abstract
En este artículo, se analiza el peso que ejercen algunas instituciones como la familia y el sistema educativo, junto con el grupo de iguales, el ámbito laboral y los cambios legislativos, en las trayectorias de vida de tres mujeres de clases populares que pertenecen al mundo urbano y al rural. La presentación y la interpretación de las tres historias se han organizado sobre el telón de fondo de la historia de España de las últimas décadas del siglo xx, de modo que podemos comparar sus vivencias con las de sus madres —y, en algunos casos, también con las de sus abuelas—. El principal objetivo es poder recuperar los marcos estructurales en los que se insertan y cobran sentido los relatos, para poder trascender la individualidad de cada una de estas historias y ser conscientes del peso de las inercias históricas y las lógicas sociales e institucionales. La caracterización sociológica de las tres trayectorias se ha realizado teniendo en cuenta las interrelaciones que se producen entre el capital económico, el capital cultural y el capital social o relacional (Bourdieu, 1998).
This article analyzes the influence of institutions such as the family, the educational system, peer groups, the workplace and legislative changes in the life accounts of three workingclass rural and urban women. The presentation and interpretation of their three life stories is organized against the backdrop of the history of Spain in the last decades of the twentieth century in order to compare their life trajectories with those of their mothers, and in some cases their grandmothers’. Our main purpose is to recapture the structural frame and social milieu which inform and give meaning to these life accounts in order to transcend their particularity and gain awareness of the role of historical inertias and social and institutional logics. The sociological portrayal of the life trajectories presented in the article takes into account the interrelationships between Bourdieu’s economic capital, cultural capital and social or relational capital.
