Abstract
Esta Tesis Doctoral tiene como objeto analizar las noticias de los informativos de televisión de Televisión Española (TVE1) y Telecinco durante el periodo de los meses de mayo a septiembre de 2013. A partir de una metodología centrada en el análisis de contenido y análisis del discurso y situándonos entre las teorías de la agenda setting y el framing, la intención es conocer y comparar la imagen transmitida de las personas con discapacidad, dando así continuidad a los estudios sobre medios de comunicación y discapacidad, hasta ahora muy centrados en la prensa. La selección de estos meses nos permitirá saber si el descenso de la actividad política durante la época veraniega influye de alguna forma en la atención a las noticias sobre discapacidad. Estudiaremos el paradigma en el que se insertan las noticias para determinarla tendencia de cada informativo a la hora de interpretar la situación de la discapacidad. Además, analizaremos el lenguaje utilizado para designar a la persona con discapacidad así como aquellas expresiones que lo acompañan, lo que permitirá descubrir aquellos estereotipos presentes en el discurso del informativo y de los declarantes de las noticias. Para esta labor tendremos como referencia las guías de estilo sobre medios de comunicación y discapacidad. Por último, propondremos una serie de recomendaciones con el ánimo de mejorar la imagen de las personas con discapacidad en los informativos de televisión.
The purpose of this Dissertation is to analyze the newscasts of Televisión Española (TVE1) and Telecinco during the period from May to September 2013. The intention is to know and compare how the image of people with disabilities is transmitted, thus giving continuity to studies on the media and disability, until now very focused on the press. Therefore, we based our methodology focusing on content analysis and discourse analysis, placing ourselves between the theories of agenda setting and framing. The selection of the above mentioned months will allow us to know if the decrease in political activity during the summer season influences in any way the attention to news about disability. We will study the paradigm in which the news is inserted to determine the trend of each newscast when interpreting the disability situation. Additionally, we will analyze the language used to designate the person with a disability as well as those expressions that accompany it, which will allow us to discover those stereotypes present both in the discourse of the newscast and of the declarants of the news. Therefore we will refer to the style guides on the media and disability. Finally, we will propose a series of recommendations with the aim of improving the image of people with disabilities in the newscast.
