Actualmente la elevación de seno maxilar puede considerarse uno de los procedimientos más versátiles en cirugía bucal. Entendemos justificado el haber llevado a cabo este trabajo, ya que se ha evaluado la realización de elevaciones de seno maxilar con la ayuda de un sistema en el cual se usa un catéter-globo para su ejecución, llamado Balloon Lift Control® (Hager & Meisinger GmbH, Hansemannstr, Neuss, Alemania)...
Tooth loss leads to a rapid bone decrease associated with the maxillary sinus, sometimes leaving only a fine bone lamina between the sinus and the oral cavity. For this reason, rehabilitation with dental implants in posterior areas sometimes requires augmentation techniques to provide sufficient bone volume for the insertion of intraosseous implants of adequate dimensions. The maxillary sinus lift technique has been in use since the nineteen-sixties (1,2) and over the years numerous works of research have evaluated its long-term outcomes (3-5), as well as the technical modifications it has undergone over time (6-9), and the types of graft used in sinus lift (10-12). The purpose of the present work was to evaluate a maxillary sinus lift technique aided by use of a balloon catheter – Balloon Lift Control® (Hager & Meisinger GmbH, Hansemannstr, Neuss, Germany).
